Garabet Tavitjan - Garo was born in Skopje in 1953. He start playing drums at age of 12 when he took part as a drummer in almost every important group in Yugoslavia. In 1976 he became a member of the greatest Macedonian rock band Leb i Sol. He played drums and percussion and composed music on numerous Leb i Sol albums. In 1990 he founded the group Paramecium, which he has been playing with ever since.

He started playing drums and piano at early age as his father, Garabet Tavitjan which is the greatest drummer in the Balkans. Many world critics call him "young but already among top European drummers whose credits are too numerous too mention". He attended music school in Skopje and studied percussions and piano. He recorded and performed at numerous concerts organized within the Skopje music academy by its orchestra, jazz ensembles and pop bands.

The band was formed in 1991.
In 1992 they competed at the Skopje Pop-Rock Fest and won the first prize as well as the opportunity to record their first album. The album called Accidentally Here was produced by the music and cassette production of the Macedonian National TV and Radio Station and was declared as The Best Debut Album of the Year.
In November 2008 the band released its sixth album All I Want Is You, and is currently working on its concert promotion.
